Yoga Class
Find your inner Zen with Liberty Hospital's Yoga class. This course is offered in two different sessions on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Sessions are ongoing and participants may sign-up for individual classes. The course is designed to accommodate beginners, as well as those who have practiced yoga previously (ages 15 and up). Courses will be taught by a certified yoga instructor.

While some supplies, such as yoga straps and yoga blocks will be available for you to use; we recommend that you bring your own yoga mat for each session.

Heartsaver AED CPR / Adult & Pediatric
This course teaches Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and the use of an AED for victims 1 year of age or older. Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Will be practicing skills that will require working on your hands and knees, bending and standing. This class is taught by American Heart Association instructors following AHA guidelines. You will receive a course completion card with this class. A non-refundable fee covers class materials. Participants must be 12 years of age or older. CPR classes are held monthly. If no registration box appears below, the current class is full. Future dates include: April 13, 2010 and June 24, 2010. Registration opens 30 days prior to class date.

Heartsaver Adult First Aid
Class teaches the basics of first aid action for adults, including how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. The course will be taught by registered nurses who are American Heart Association instructors. There is a non-refundable fee to cover materials. Participants must be at least 12 years of age. Future class date is July 13 2010. Registration opens 30 days prior to the class date.

Introduction To Parish Nursing/Faith Community Nursing
Interested in starting a Parish Nurse/Faith Community Nursing/Health Ministry? This class will define Parish Nursing, discuss the history, describe the roles and explain the contribution of starting a "wholistic" program within your congregation or organization.

Medical Terminology
This is a eight-week course (consecutive Tuesday evenings) designed to introduce basic medical terminology to those with a non-medical background interested in exploring opportunities in the medical field, or in further study. Please note that both homework and independent study will be required to successfully complete the program. A non-refundable fee will cover materials provided as well as enrollment for Medical Terminology II, the companion class. The course will be from June 22nd thru August 17th with the week of August 10th off.

Look Good, Feel Better
Look Good…Feel Better is a FREE educational program that teaches beauty techniques to women diagnosed with cancer and to help combat the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. This unique class is offered by a licensed cosmetologist and hosted by several area hospitals. Pre-registration is required because cosmetics must be ordered in advance to match your skin tone. Benefits include: Talking with other women going through treatment, looking good and feeling better about yourself, receiving valuable instructions from a licensed cosmetologist, and the opportunity to take home a makeup bag valued at over $200.

Pre-Diabetes Management Class
This class is for people diagnosed with Pre Diabetes, Impaired Glucose Tolerance, Hyperglycemia, or Insulin Resistance. It is taught by a Certified Diabetes Educator and will include: instruction to delay the onset of Type 2 Diabetes, nutrition, and exercise. The non-refundable fee includes class materials. Classes are the third Thursday evening of each month from 6-8 p.m. The class is held in the Doctors Building at Liberty Hospital in Classroom 1. For questions about the class, call 816.792-7267. Registration opens 60 days before each class.

Would you like to learn to find health information from credible sources on the Internet? The focus of this free, single-session class is health information for seniors new to the Internet. Basic instruction in using the Internet to find credible Web sites is offered in a hands-on class. All ages are welcome to attend. Tired of all the fad diets? Want to know the easiest way to eat healthy? Liberty Hospital has partnered with Cosentino’s Price Chopper to offer Heart-Smart Shopping Cart, a free educational program that teaches the importance of picking heart-healthy foods in the grocery store.

A Liberty Hospital certified dietitian will explore all the latest diet trends, their flaws and how to eat smart for your heart! Participants will learn how to eat within the food pyramid, read food labels, and the impor-tance of eating a well-balanced diet.
