Making music for a cause
LIBERTY, Mo. (July 2, 2008) — The 12th annual
Liberty Hospital Foundation
spring social held June 14 brought Kansas City barbecue and jazz together at the Liberty Hospital TreeHouse.
The event featured music from Corbin’s Jazz n’ Jammin’ Big Band and Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbecue and raised more than $20,000 for the Foundation. Proceeds benefit the work of the Foundation, including maintaining TreeHouse and the Foundation scholarship program.
TreeHouse at Liberty Hospital is a hospitality house located on the hospital campus. It serves as a home away from home for families who have a loved one hospitalized as well as for patients awaiting treatment. TreeHouse has served more than 10,000 guests since it opened in January 2005.
“This was the first time we have held the event at TreeHouse,” said Gwen Williams, Liberty Hospital Foundation director. “We gave tours of TreeHouse all night long. Attendees were able to stroll on the walking trail and soak up the beauty of the garden area while listening to music and enjoying the food.”
Liberty Hospital is a 245-bed regional medical center serving Clay and Platte counties as well as the northwest Missouri corridor. Founded in 1974, Liberty Hospital is a public, non-profit hospital, created for the benefit of its community as a political subdivision district hospital under Chapter 206 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri. It is governed by a six-member, publicly elected board of trustees who serve six-year terms. More than 1,600 employees and 350 physicians deliver compassionate, exceptional care using the latest technology and a full range of services.
