Liberty Hospital
Uterine Fibroid Embolization

Our uterine fibroid emoblization procedure gives women with uterine fibroids an alternative to surgery.

The minimally invasive procedure uses a catheter to inject tiny particles into the vessels that supply the fibroids with blood. Because their blood supply is blocked, the fibroids shrink up to 50%.

During the procedure, the patient is sedated but conscious and feels no pain.

Uterine fibroid embolization is cost-effective and has a shorter recovery period than surgery. Only one week of recovery and an overnight hospital stay are required.

To see if uterine fibroid embolization is right for you, call the Interventional Radiology Department at Liberty Hospital at 816-407-4777, as the procedure may not be suitable for some women.
