Liberty Hospital now offers a new aquatic therapy program for rehab patients! The Hydro Track Underwater Treadmill system has been installed at Liberty Hospital’s Outpatient Rehab Clinic at 130 S. Stewart Road.
Aquatic therapy gives patients the opportunity to exercise with decreased effects of gravity. For example, when a patient stands in water that goes up to his chest, the weight on his lower extremities decreases by 75 percent.
Water supports the body, reduces joint stress and can provide resistance or assistance to movement. The new treadmill can help patients with mobility, strength and function.
And the good news is most patients can participate in aquatic exercise. Aquatic therapy can be exceptional for physical, neurologic and orthopedic conditions.
Typical problems that benefit from aquatic therapy: • Back pain • ACL repairs • Ankle, hip and knee injuries • Arthritis • Several other disease and conditions
