To better serve the increasing number of patients coming to Liberty Hospital for state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment, we were the first hospital in the Northland to upgrade to a 64-slice CT scanner. Unlike older technology, this scanner has the ability to produce images that are 0.5 mm layers. These extremely thin slices reveal details of small arteries or minor abnormalities of organ tissue, providing our physicians with a powerful tool for a wide range of clinical uses.
The benefits are clear: Our CT scanner is extremely fast, surveying the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis in seconds, rather than minutes. This can be a life-saving advantage when time is of the essence for the hospital’s Level II Trauma Center.
It allows radiologists to view the patient’s anatomy in three dimensions. Never before have physicians been able to view anatomy in such detail.
