Liberty Hospital is the first Cardiac Rehab program in the Northland to be certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).
“The certification process is very extensive, looking at every aspect of the care we provide,” said Georgia Solovic, RRT, RDCS, director of Cardiology Services. “Certification ensures our patients and the community that we have undergone a rigorous review process and meet or exceed the nationally-established requirements for cardiac rehabilitation.” 3-Phase Program As required by the AACVPR, the program offers patients three phases of care.
Phase I Inpatient education and exercises are provided while the patient is hospitalized. Medicare and most insurance plans cover Phase I.
Phase II A 12-week outpatient monitored exercise and education program. During Phase II, patients attend sessions three times each week for approximately 12 weeks. They work out on treadmills, stationary bicycles, rowing machines, light weights and stairs. Medicare and most insurance plans cover the Phase II.
Phase III An elective outpatient supervised exercise/education maintenance program. Phase III puts patients on a heart-healthy maintenance program. Phase III is usually paid for by the patient.
Both Phases II and III focus on helping patients and their families learn about heart disease and how making important lifestyle changes, such as exercising and eating right, can reduce the risks for future heart problems.
Each patient has their own individualized program that fits their physical abilities and lifestyle. |
