Image-Guided Sinus Surgery
Ear, nose and throat specialists performing sinus surgery at Liberty Hospital have the advantage of using our state-of-the-art GE InstaTrak Surgical Navigation System. Similar to global positioning systems (GPS), it increases a surgeon’s precision and the safety of sinus procedures.

How it works
With imaged-guided sinus surgery, CT images are taken before surgery. The patient’s doctor uses these to create an anatomical "roadmap" of the sinuses. As the surgeon's instruments travel within the patient's body during the procedure, the system tracks their exact position, which is displayed on a high-definition monitor in the operating room. With the ability to track surgical instrumentation, Liberty Hospital’s ear, nose and throat surgeons can provide surgical relief more precisely, and can more safely perform delicate sinus surgery without risking damage to critical surrounding structures such as arteries and nerves.

Image-guided sinus surgery can be particularly helpful when previous sinus surgery has changed the patient’s sinus structure, or when the patient’s sinus anatomy is unusual.
