Low Vision Rehab

Our occupational therapists provide specific training for individuals with decreased vision. Visual impairments take many forms and have various levels of severity.

Our goal is to help you maintain independence while you continue to engage in daily activities and occupations safely. Treatment focuses on maximizing remaining vision with exercises and alternate viewing techniques.

Typical decreased vision problems that benefit:
• Stroke
• Macular degeneration
• Diabetic retinopathy
• Other medical issues causing vision loss

Therapists assist through:
• Optimizing daily activities
• Adapting environment to maximize vision
• Adjusting meal preparation techniques
• Increasing safety and independence

Treatment may include these daily modifications:
• Adaptive lighting
• Using high contrast items
• Assistive technology
• Special writing materials
• Tactile markings
