Liberty Hospital
Robotic Surgery

Liberty Hospital is pleased to present the da Vinci robotic surgery system! The new system can be used for a range of minimally invasive procedures in urology and gynecology. The da Vinci system enables highly magnified visualization inside the body and greater precision, while making it easier for Liberty Hospital surgeons to operate using small incisions.

How the new system benefits you:

   - Shorter hospital stays

   - Faster recovery times

   - Reduced risk of infection

   - Reduced risk of blood loss

   - Less pain

Prostatectomy

This procedure – the removal of the prostate to treat prostate cancer – can now be done without large incisions. Adopted by many urologists after its introduction in 2001, this approach has already surpassed open surgery to become the most-often performed approach to prostate cancer surgery in the United States.

Gynecological procedures
In the past, a hysterectomy meant a long and often painful recovery with a higher risk of complications. Now many gynecologic procedures that require surgery, including hysterectomies and myomectomies, can be treated without a big incision, which means recovery times are measured in days rather than the usual weeks.

Other procedures include:
 - Robotic-assisted laparoscopic pyeloplasty (plastic surgery on the kidney)
 - Robotic-assisted laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (removal of part of a diseased kidney)
