Liberty Hospital
Our Services
The Cancer Center at Liberty Hospital believes in treating the whole person, not just the disease. Patients and their families can take comfort in knowing that quality cancer care is right here close to home. The center offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient services including:

Inpatient Oncology Care
The surgical/oncology unit is a 36-bed inpatient unit which provides holistic nursing care to patients and families experiencing a cancer diagnosis. Patients and families are provided education and printed materials related to the disease process, treatment plan, symptom management and available support resources. The nursing staff is certified in chemotherapy administration, and also attend annual educational updates on new medications, research findings, and other topics related to the care of patients with cancer.

Outpatient Treatments
The Liberty Hospital Cancer Center provides patients with knowledgeable, personalized, compassionate care throughout their cancer experience. The center is staffed by oncology certified nurses who are specially trained in caring for oncology patients. Services include weekly physician clinics, chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions and symptom management. The staff at the center provides patients and their families with educational materials so that they may take an active role in their own care. The Center is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Breast Diagnostic Center
The goal of the Breast Center is to detect breast cancer in its earliest, most treatable stage. Accredited by the American College of Radiology, the Breast Center offers state-of-the art, digital mammography services that are 15 percent more sensitive than traditional film mammography. This means it’s more likely to detect trouble spots earlier... especially in women under 50 or those who haven’t hit menopause yet. The digital machine also emits 22 percent less radiation than film mammography, which makes it safer for the patient.

Lymphedema Therapy
Certified lymphedema therapists are available to assess and treat patients with lymphedema using complete decongestive therapy. The hospital’s lymphedema therapists have more than 100 hours of education in this therapy. This state-of-the-art treatment, recommended by the International Society of Lymphology, often includes 2-4 weeks of treatment and education on independent management of symptoms. Key components include:

  • Manual lymph drainage
  • Compression bandaging
  • Skin care
  • Exercise
  • Compression garment fitting
Cancer Rehabilitation Education and Support (CaRES) Program
The CaRES program helps patients overcome cancer-related fatigue, whether it's related to the disease, the chemotherapy or radiation treatments. Patients work one-on-one with a physical therapist that has special training in cancer-related fatigue. In addition to fighting fatigue, the CaRES program helps patient who may have problems with strength or balance as a result of their treatment and is customized to meet the patients individualized needs.
