The big day is almost here. Are you ready? Here are some things to help prepare for your delivery at Liberty Hospital.
Select Your Baby’s Physician As part of the parental responsibilities that start now, it's time to start thinking about your baby's physician. In fact, we encourage you to do some homework now. Ask your friends. Check credentials. And when you narrow the choices, schedule a consultation prior to birth so that you can discuss the physician's philosophy on such issues as breastfeeding, childcare and so on.
Schedule a Pre-Admission Visit
Preparing for the birth of a new baby can be exciting and overwhelming all that same time. The good news is the Birthing Center at Liberty Hospital is here to help with a pre-admission visit program! A pre-admission visit is a free appointment and can be completed anytime during the 32nd and 38th week of your pregnancy.
A pre-admission visit allows you to talk one-on-one with a Birthing Center registered nurse, who will talk to you about your medical history and past and current pregnancies and will complete a health profile.
Health profiles are completed for all patients that deliver at Liberty Hospital. By attending a pre-admission visit, you will be able to complete your health profile before going into labor. This will ultimately shorten your admission process and allow your health-care providers to prepare and plan your care ahead of time.
To schedule your pre-admission visit, please call the Birthing Center patient registrar at 816-792-7229. The pre-admission visit takes less than an hour to complete and, depending on your needs can be scheduled during a time that is convenient for you.
Understand Your Insurance Policy It's always nice to avoid surprises. That's why we suggest that you check out the specifics of your insurance policy now. That way, you'll understand the extent of your coverage before arriving at the hospital. If you have questions about your coverage, call your insurance company. Install Your Car Seat State law requires that your baby ride in a car safety seat at all times. This means we can’t discharge your baby until we know he or she is in a car seat. We encourage you to attend one of our car seat checks prior to your estimated due date. It is an opportunity for you to learn how to insert and use the car seat correctly, every time. Click here for more details or to register. Car seat checks are offered monthly by appointment.
