At Liberty Hospital, we know that family members are affected by a loved one’s illness – and they deserve to be treated with special care and concern. That’s why we created TreeHouse.
TreeHouse at Liberty Hospital is a hospitality house located on the Liberty Hospital campus. It is available for families who have a loved one hospitalized, as well as for patients awaiting treatment.
TreeHouse is located on a knoll overlooking the hospital walking trail, with a lower-story walkout basement. It has 10 sleeping rooms with attached private bathrooms, laundry facilities, a quiet room, and a kitchen/hearth room that functions as the heart of the house - all with the feel of a home-away-from-home. Volunteers staff the house during the day, and a resident assistant lives on site.
TreeHouse was conceived and created by the Liberty Hospital Foundation and hospital employees who were looking for a way to help fulfill the Foundation’s mission. They recognized that family members often need a place to stay while a loved one was hospitalized. Nearly 50 percent of Liberty Hospital’s patients come from outside Clay County, some as far away as the Iowa border. TreeHouse was built to provide care and comfort to patients and their families.
More than 500 community members, organizations, and businesses donated the funds to build TreeHouse. Although the hospital manages the daily operations of TreeHouse, the Liberty Hospital Foundation funds the operational cost and raises money for an endowment to pay for future operations.
