If you have prediabetes, your blood glucose levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. Having prediabetes means you're at risk for developing diabetes. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to delay—or avoid—developing diabetes.
2 steps to delay diabetes
If you have prediabetes, these two steps can cut your risk for diabetes by more than half.
- Lose 7% of your body weight. For example, if you weigh 200 pounds, lose 14 pounds.
- Be physically active for 30 minutes, five days a week.
